Free Juno Email

Juno is famous for their slogan “Email was meant to be free”. While it is true that Juno offers free Internet email for anyone that owns a PC and a modem, be sure you do your homework. Juno is a nationwide Internet Service Provider with access from over 8,000 in the US and Canada.

Juno offers three types of dial-up Internet Services. The Juno Platinum Internet Service current costs $9.95 per month. You get POP and web email, direct access to the World Wide Web and compatibility with current instant messaging programs. This is available for both PC and Mac users.

The Juno SpeedBand Internet service provides everything from the Platinum service plus faster web surfing. Juno advertises access speeds up to five times faster and offers pop-up blocking.

Finally, for those that only use the Internet occasionally, Juno offers ad-supported Free Internet Access. “Occasionally” means you use the Internet less than 10 hours per month.

Users report the following problems with the Free Juno ISP option. First, you will frequently be prompted to upgrade to a paid version of the program. If you go over the ten hour limit, you will receive a message that you cannot access the Internet, except at certain hours (usually in the middle of the night) or you will find that your computer will be disconnected when attempting to access the Internet, even if you’re not using Juno.
