Its purpose is to insure these requests come from acceptable Internet addresses, usually addresses previously identified. If the firewall program receives a request to access information and the source is unknown or questionable, that request is blocked or denied. Firewalls are often used on networks, but are also common on individual computers. If you have cable or DSL access, your Internet access is always on. You need a firewall security program for protection.

Parental Control and Privacy Software
If you have children who use the Internet, parental control software is a must. It guards the security of your computer and helps keep personal information private. It protects your children from viewing obscene material and pictures. It usually includes a large list of unacceptable sites. Access to these sites is blocked. You can add your own sites to the list.

There are many other security and privacy options you can set up. For example, this security software blocks harmful websites and newsgroups. It can restrict chat and instant messaging. You can filter web-based email. You can establish how much time is spent online and which programs are accessed. It can control program downloads and protect personal security.
